Speed up Nero in XP

Go to "administrative tools" in the control panel, and in the "services" list, right click and go into properties and disable the IMAPI CD-Burning COM service.
(Note: manual setting is not enough it must be disabled) It is the built-in CD-burning capability for windowsXP (incidentally, written by Roxio).
Once it is disabled, Nero will start up much quicker.

Good luck!:partyman:

disable the IMAPI CD-Burning COM service.

I'd suggest it to be set to "manual" .. u never know .. some software may use it ...

NEVER NEEDED IT and ive been burning disks for years :)

only things that would use it would be PACKET WRITING software .. where the disk usualy a CDRW or DVDRW sits in the drive and you write to it like a floppy drive ... and to be honest this method SUCKS!!! :(

CDRW and DVDRW are not really a reliable media to use for data backup as they are really only good for 10 writes maximum :( before they degrade and you loose data
