    Default Using JAF to install cooked ROMS (N97/N97 mini)

    I am posted this new thread because all the previous HOW TO USE JAF posts give instructions that are not the proper way to FLASH n97/n97 mini. You should never use DEAD USB unless your phone is actually DEAD, which would only happen if you use PHOENIX. And that happens because the ADL server checks the CRC after the firmware upgrade, which won't match because you cooked your firmware files and will cause the boot-loader not to change back to normal operating mode. So DO NOT USE PHOENIX when upgrading CORE, ROFS2, ROFS3 cooked files, use JAF only...


    INSTALLING AND SETTING UP JAF

    1. Download the attached file.
    2. UNRAR the file to your desktop
    3. open the folder "cooked"
    4. open the folder "install"
    5....

    Note on you only have to do "STEP 5" if you are using Vista, Windows 2003/2008 server. or Windows 7

    A. Right click on "JAFSetup_1.98.62.exe"
    B. scroll down to "Properties", left click on "Properties"
    C. Left click the "Compatibility" at the top of the popup window.
    D. "CHECK" run this program in "Compatibility" mode
    E. In the select box. select "Windows XP" or Windows XP SP?
    F. left click "APPLY", then left click "OK"

    6. Left click on "JAFSetup_1.98.62.exe" to install JAF to the default location
    7. Left click on "driver.msi" to install the latest NOKIA USB drivers (N97/N97 MINI) English only

    8. go back to the main "cooker" folder.
    9. open the folder "copy".
    10. right click on the folder "ODEON".
    11. scroll down and left click "copy"
    12. Now go to "C:\Program Files".
    13. right click anywhere in the "C:\Program Files" folder
    14. scroll down to "paste" and left click on "paste".
    15. select "YES" overwrite all files if it asks you to do that
    16. restart your system.
    17. JAF is properly installed with all drivers and ini's

    GETTING YOUR FIRMWARE DOWNLOAD AND READY FOR FLASHING

    1. go to "C:\Program Files\Nokia".
    2. create a folder called "Phoenix" > C:\Program Files\Nokia\Phoenix
    3. open C:\Program Files\Nokia\Phoenix
    4. create a folder called "Products" > C:\Program Files\Nokia\Phoenix\Products
    5. open C:\Program Files\Nokia\Phoenix\Products
    6. create a folder with phones ROM VERSION > RM-507, C:\Program Files\Nokia\Phoenix\Products\RM-507
    7. open C:\Program Files\Nokia\Phoenix\Products\RM-507, leave it open.
    8. go back to the main "cooker" folder.
    9. open the download folder.
    10 left click on "navifirm.exe" and use it to download your firmware
    11. save your firmware to > C:\Program Files\Nokia\Phoenix\Products\RM-507

    Note...

    RM-507 will be different depending on your country or region (IE, RM-505, RM-555, etc...)

    GETTING THE PKEY Emulator READY FOR USE

    1. go back to the main "cooker" folder.
    2. open the folder "run".
    3...

    Note...

    B. scroll down to "Properties", left click on "Properties"
    C. Left click the "Compatibility" at the top of the popup window.

    E. In the select box. select "Windows XP" or Windows XP SP?
    F. left click "APPLY", then left click "OK"

    USING JAF TO INSTALL COOKED ROMS

    1. turn your phone on.
    2. leave it on the home screen.
    3. hookup your USB cable.
    4. connect using PC SUITE mode.
    5.

    1. from main "cooker" folder.
    2. open the folder "run".
    3. left click on "OGM_JAF_PKEY_Emulator_v 5.exe"
    4. in the step "3 BOX" click "OK".
    5. JAF gets loaded
    6. in JAF left click the BB5 tab
    7. under "Flash Settings"...

    A. uncheck "CRT 308"
    B. check "Manual Flash"
    C. check "Normal Mode"
    D. check "Use INI"

    Note...

    Only Manual Flash, Normal Mode, Use INI should be checked under flash settings.

    8. Wait for INI popup window to open.
    9. scroll down to your USB FIRMWARE CABLE TYPE
    10. left click on firmware type (RM-???)

    Note RM-??? will be your country or region type (mine is, RM-507)

    11. left click "OK"
    12. your FIRMWARE FILES ARE SETUP AND LOADED READY FOR FLASHING BY JAF
    13. in the "Operations Box", left click on "FLASH"
    14. your phone will "REBOOT" and the flashing will be started.
    15. Wait for JAF to restart your phone before disconnected your USB cable.
    16. setup your phone and enjoy your new cooked firmware.


    It's that simple, no turning off your phone, pressing buttons, removing batteries, etc... And you won't ever brick your phone if you do this way.


    FINAL NOTES.

    Always make file changes (replace ROM files) before starting JAF. So JAF loads those changes.


    JAF install pack, everything you need to install cooked roms

    UPDATE... ADDED ALL N97 & N97 mini USB CABLE DRIVER to JAF (updates jaf_nok4models.ini)


    This will fix INI POPUP not finding your RM-???

    INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS...

    CLOSE JAF BEFORE UPDATING INI FILE.

    1. unrar the file "ini.rar"
    2. open the folder "ini'
    3. right click on the folder "ODEON"
    4. scroll down and left click "copy"
    5. Now go to "C:\Program Files".
    6. right click anywhere in the "C:\Program Files" folder
    7. scroll down to "paste" and left click on "paste".
    8. select "YES" overwrite all files if it asks you to do that

    Now all N97 / N97 mini RM-??? will be recognized!
