Have you been looking at those World of Warcraft: Cataclysm ads plastered pretty much everywhere and thinking "dang, that kinda looks awesome. Maybe I should grow a neckbeard, stop answering my friends' calls and start playing"? Perhaps you've considered it before, but figured now that the game is six years old, it's probably not relevant anymore. Or maybe you don't think you would be able to catch up to all those high-level players. It could be a combination of all of these, but regardless, you're left asking yourself one final question: is it worth it? Is it worth the time and effort to play through the low levels to reach the upper echelon? Is it worth the price of the core game, plus expansions, and a monthly subscription to top it all off?

That's what we -- you and I -- are here to figure out. With any massively-multiplayer online game, reviews take time. Expansions like Cataclysm are no different, so it is going to take some time before we can slap a number on the game. I wouldn't just leave you hanging, though, so as we did with the release of Final Fantasy XIV, I will be posting regular updates on what I think of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm as I progress through it. With Cataclysm, a bunch of editors at IGN finally jumped on the World of Warcraft bandwagon, so there's a chance they'll contribute to these review notes as well. If you want to play with us, create (or move) a character to the realm Lothar (US) and look for the Horde guild "Pockets Full of Magic". High level players are especially appreciated to speed things along. Note: Don't blame me for that name.
