was baffled by details collected during SIM registration eg what's your mother's name, your religion, your hobbies, got to do with the services provided by those telco (mostly gsm) opertors? why don't they ask your fave colors, your eyes' color, your bra size, your shoe size and other triflingly paltry questions too? it's even more complicated than green card application form. not to mention the compulsory SIM registration conducted in some countries.
I'm of opinion that if the telco (mostly gsm) operators *must* collect such demographic data, it's enuff to ask users for their ASL (age, sex, location) *only*.
