How To Update Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 XXJVR 2.3.4 to Galaxy S2 ROM

coming up with a simple and effective solution to turn your Samsung Galaxy S handset into a phone which looks like Samsung Galaxy S2 handset.
Except barring few of the hardware differences like an 8 MP camera, faster 1.2GHz dual Core processor and larger screen of 4.3 inches we can now match all the software applications part including the overall User interface and other applications on Galaxy S2 to the Galaxy S phone. And trust me this porting of S2 on the Galaxy S is very much a stable affair right now as presented by the buggy porting which many other forums have bought in to the article. Though there are some minor bugs this all new S2 ROM is really fabulous.
Please note that this update is only meant for the phone with the model number Samsung Galaxy S GTI9000 and not for any other similar looking
Note: You will have to reconfigure the APN settings after updating the firmware to access the data services and the services as all the Internet APN settings will be reset. You will have to contact your Service provider to get more info on the APN Settings. Not to forget also configure the MMS Settings. Also, we hold no responsibility if anything goes wrong which is an unlikely event if anything goes wrong. Most of the users forget this step and end up experiencing difficulties in accessing the internet after updating the phone.

Enhancements in Galaxy S2 ROM for Galaxy S GT I9000:
There are quite a few number of apps which have been taken from the Galaxy S2 GT I9100 which are:

Better overall RAM usage too makes this firmware much more efficient and powered with the Voodoo Sound control further enhances the listening experience on your Galaxy S and now with this you can enjoy the louder music experience as all audio console settings which are present in the Voodoo Sound Control App.

Pre Upgrade Instructions:
· Before proceeding to update, you need to ensure that you have synced all your contacts with your Google Account, all sms, applications, videos and music files which are there in your phone should be taken a backup or else the data will be lost. Anything which is in SD card will not be lost, so you can alternatively move to SD Card. If you are planning to store in internal SD Card then it’s preferred to store the data in computer as a backup as in an unlikely event the data in SD Card may get corrupted.
· Create a backup of all the Internet APN settings along with the MMS settings so that you can again configure them all after the firmware update as sometimes these settings tend to get erased or wiped off completely after the update.
· Next up remove the SIM card as well as the external SD cards if any in your phone, just to make sure that in an unlikely event the data in it doesn’t get corrupted,
· Additionally, ensure that your phone has at least more than 50% of battery power left, this is just an advisory which if followed then you will not experience any difficulties as while updation of the device the battery consumption is at a maximum,
· Last but not the least ensure that your phone is Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 and not any other phone as if you proceed installing any other phone then there is a high possibility that you will brick your phone after which your phone will become un usable. Just in case if the upgradation gets interrupted in between then you will have to re follow the whole procedure again from the start so that the updation process of 2.3.4 completes successfully.
· If you have rooted your phone earlier then after the firmware update you will have to again root the device as the phone will be un rooted and the rooting access will be revoked. We will soon come out with an article on how you can root your device.
· Create a backup of all the Internet APN settings along with the MMS settings so that you can again configure them all after the firmware update as sometimes these settings tend to get erased or wiped off completely after the update.
Please note that you will have to additionally follow the instructions which are mentioned below as well for smooth facilitation of the firmware update process if you are on any of the Custom ROMs,
Special Instructions if you are on any other Custom ROM:
· If you are on any other custom ROM then you will have to first boot your phone in the recovery mode and then you will have to choose the options “Wipe data / factory reset” and “Wipe Cache Partition”. After this you will have to go in the “advanced” option to choose options “Wipe Dalvik Cache”, “Wipe Battery Stats”.
· After you choose these settings, the phone will clear off all the Voodoo lag fixes along with the other data which may interrupt your updation process and this above step is a must before proceeding to follow the instructions which are mentioned below

Procedure to update Galaxy S2 ROM on Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000:
· First up you will have to ensure that you updated with the XXJVR 2.3.4 ROM and then rooted the same
If not you first update your firmware with XXJVR 2.3.4 ROM and then root

· So, once you are done with the above two procedures, you now have to download(see link at end of post) the Galaxy S2 ROM to your computer. Once you download the same, you will now have to connect your phone with the computer, turn USB Mode in your phone which can be done from the drag down screen from your home screen and then place this downloaded zip file in your phone.
· Once you place this file in your phone, all you need to do is to just unplug the phone from your computer and then from your phone, go to “Applications” where you will have to type find for the “CWM” application which is nothing but the Clock Work Mod Recovery.
· In the Clock Work Mod, you will have to select the option of “Install Zip” and then you will need to select the Zip package of the one which you have placed in the phone. After this you will see that the phone will be rebooting and will take some time to update the zip file which you have selected.
· Please note that you don’t interrupt the process of the updation as it will take easily more than 10 – 15 minutes after the selection of install.zip file which you selected in last step as it installs the Voodoo and also other controls which it requires.
· Now, once the device is turned On it will take some time to switch On and to show the language options. It approximately will take around 10 minutes to show up the same as it converts the file format to the RFS one which is very efficient and also is responsible for faster user experience. If it doesn’t convert automatically then in the next article we will come out with the procedure to convert the same into the RFS.
· That’s it you have now successfully installed this ROM, now after going to the home screen, you will now have to proceed to press the power button and need to select the option of “Recovery” after which the device will enter into the recovery mode. In the recovery mode you will have to clear / wipe all the cache and need to clear the partition as this will clear off all the cache files. Please note that in any manner don’t proceed to clear the “DALVIK CACHE” as if you do so then it will wipe off all the crucial files which you may want to play with.
Just in case if you have any issues while updating the firmware then all you need to do is to repeat the procedure which is mentioned after rooting the device that is from the CWM one. Please note that as soon as you update with this firmware the CWM tool will be lost and the same will be erased. To get this CWM back you will have to download the “ROM Manager” application from the Android market Place.
