The Federal Communications Commission today announced that it is stopping the informal 180-day "shot clock" or its review of Verizon Wireless's proposed AWS spectrum purchase. According to the FCC, Verizon Wireless and its cable partners were slow to produce requested materials and missed an FCC deadline by three or more weeks. Further, third parties have complained to the FCC that Verizon is dragging its feet with respect to document requests. Thus, the FCC is adding 21 days to the informal review period of the transactions. The FCC does not anticipate that there will be any more delays. Verizon hopes to purchase 122 AWS spectrum licenses from a consortium of cable companies.
