Official Sony PSP Firmware 5.00 Update

Before you begin I'd format your memory stick and use one 4gb or smaller

Upgrade any version of CFW or OFW 1.5 to 5.00m33-6

If you already have a custom firmware CFW or original firmware 1.50 then you can use Hellcat’s CFW Recovery Flasher to upgrade to the latest version

Download from here the latest version and unpack it to a safe location on your PC

Only if your firmware is OFW 1.50 then from the download copy the 2 folders found inside the FW1.50 folder to /PSP/GAME on your PSP’s memory stick. – Not required for CFW

Now from the same download copy the RECOVERY folder to /PSP/GAME/ on your memory stick

Now download the Sony 5.00 update from here and copy it to the RECOVERY folder on the memory stick

If you have CFW then launch the Recovery Flasher from the recovery menu (power on while holding the right trigger)




From the Recovery Menu select "Run program at PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP" and press X

Only if you have OFW 1.50 launch “For FW 1.50 only” from Game on the XMB

Eventually you’ll see the main menu.




Select the option “Install M33 CFW” and press X.

Follow the on screen instructions and when complete you'll have a PSP with CFW 5.00M33-6

Enable No UMD Mode

If you've not done this already then this will allow you to run your backed up UMD games from your memory stick without having a UMD game disk in the optical drive

1. While on the XMB press the SELECT button
2. From the M33 VSH MENU use the arrow key to go down to UMD ISO MOD
3. Press the right and left arrows to select Sony NP9660
4. Move down to EXIT and press X
